Marvin W. Peterson Oct. 29, 1941 - Feb. 3, 2009
FOREST LAKE -- Marvin W. Peterson, 67, of Forest Lake, died Tuesday following a lengthy illness.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Minn. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Mattson Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
He was born Oct. 29, 1941, in Willmar to Winston and Ruby (Johnson) Peterson. He graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1959. He attended Augsburg College and St. Cloud State College before returning home to help his father on the farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division near Freidberg, Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to work on the farm. He graduated from NW Electronics Institute.
He married Sharon Beck on Feb. 19, 1972, in Brooklyn Park. He worked for Control Data as an electronic technician for 22 years, then Cub Foods in White Bear Lake for 15 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir.
He is survived by a daughter: Kristi Peterson of Rochester; siblings: Betty Oberg of Plymouth, Mark (and Sue) Peterson of Kerkhoven, and twin sister: Marilyn (and George) Haus of Lenox, Mass.; and ex-wife: Sharon Peterson of Plymouth.
He is preceded in death by an infant child.
