Mary Ann Powers

Mary Ann Powers, 70 of Spicer, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Spicer. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the services at the church. www.hafh.org

Mary Ann Powers was born in Appleton, MN to Olaf and Mary (Lehman) Borg. She grew up in the Tintah and Breckenridge areas. On August 10, 1963 she married Richard Powers and lived in various locations in North Dakota. They moved to the Willmar area in 1969. She raised their two children, worked at a furniture store for 18 years, and was heavily involved in her church activities. She fought for many years for the rights of the unborn. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, home design, visiting family and friends, and every minute with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard; son, Stephen (Kelli) Powers of Holdingford; daughter, Robyn Powers of Spicer; four grandchildren, James Powers of Revillo, SD and Nicholas, Kyle and Beth Powers of Holdingford; brothers, Harry Borg, Donald (Andrea) Borg, David (Ingrid) Borg, Stephen (Geriann) Borg, and Michael (Betty) Borg; sister, Julie (Ron) Abel, and 29 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Borg and sisters-in-law, Lavon Borg and Norma Jean Borg.
