REDWOOD FALLS -- Mary Eleanor Mammen, 88, of Redwood Falls, died Friday at her home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
She was born July 20, 1920, in Redwood Falls to John W. and Helen (Whittet) Sexton. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1938. She began working at the ASCS office until moving to Marshall and was employed by Equitable Life Insurance Company.
On Nov. 25, 1942, she married Virgil Mammen in Redwood Falls. Together they farmed in Redwood Township before moving near Wabasso and farming in Vail Township. In 1947 they returned to Paxton Township and continued their farming operations until retiring in 1981, at which time they moved into Redwood Falls. She had worked for the Gazette for two years as a proofreader.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton and was active in the funeral food committee. She had served as a 4-H leader and worked with the Women's Extension Group.
She is survived by her husband; sons: Jim (and Amy) of Roseville and Lee (and Jeanne) of Worthington; nine grandchildren; sisters: Betty Anderson of Glenwood City, Wis., and June (and Gerald) Schaffran of Lucan.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
