DANUBE - Mary Ferguson, age 86, of Danube, MN, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Danube with Rev. Michael Kuschel officiating. Burial is in St. Matthews South Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 4-7 p.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Danube and continues there on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
Mary Alice Ferguson was born February 2, 1927 on a farm at Bechyn, MN, to William and Emma (Ohland) Thoenebe. When she was growing up her family moved to Danube and she graduated from Danube High School. On June 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to Ray Ferguson of Olivia at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church Parsonage in Danube. Ray and Mary have resided these past 60 years in Danube and were blessed with four children. Mary was a homemaker, a faithful member of St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Aid. Mary was a quiet, content, and caring lady who always had time for her family and friends. She loved time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always kept on hand crackers with cheese-whiz and pudding snacks for lunches. Mary especially treasured receiving flowers from Ray which he had grown in his garden.
Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ray Ferguson of Danube; her four children: David (and Trude) Ferguson of Corpus Christi, TX, Pat Dillon of Olivia, Rick (and Tammy) Ferguson of Danube, and Robert (and Joy) Ferguson of Olivia; her 10 grandchildren: Elise Ferguson, Chris (and Elizabeth) Patrick, Leah (and Rick) Lubbers, Josh (and Brooke) Dillon, Becky (and Aaron) Haen, Kristin (and Justin) Susnik, Todd (and Sandy ) Ferguson, Luke (and Becky) Ferguson, Adam Ferguson (and special friend Blanca), and Jennifer Hansen; her 19 great-grandchildren; her sister Delores Miller of Chaska; and her sister-in-law Dorothy (and Bob) Prax of Fairfax. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; six brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and her son-in-law Michael Dillon.
