Mary Helen Lind July 8, 1923 - March 31, 2013

SUN CITY, AZ - Mary Helen Lind was born July 8th, 1923 to Hagvert Tobias Langager and Martha Amelia Enstad Langager at the Willmar Hospital in Kandiyohi County, MN and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Resurrection Sunday, March 31st, 2013 in Boswell Hospital, Sun City, AZ. She was the youngest of nine children, two of which died in infancy, and the only one of the Langager children to be born in a hospital. She was baptized and confirmed in the Willmar Lutheran Free Church and attended the Willmar schools, graduating from Willmar High School in 1942. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri for one year but was unable to complete her degree due to her father's death and being needed at home to help her mother, who never did learn to drive a car. Mary Helen came home, and to help her mother with expenses, got a job as a clerk at the Kandiyohi County Roads Department for several years. While she worked there, one of her married coworkers, Ruth Lind, invited her to be a fourth for Bridge since her husband's brother was just out of the Navy and staying at their house. That night, Mary met Raymond Leroy Lind and it was just the beginning of their more than 50 years together. They soon began dating and were married October 18th, 1946 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar.

They began a home in Aiken, MN where Ray worked for Land of Lakes Creamery. Craig Raymond Lind joined their little family there, being born in the Crosby Hospital on April 7, 1948. They moved to Bertha, MN where Ray sold ranges for Monarch and then to Brooten where Ray had a hardware store. Mary Helen was a stay-at-home mom but occasionally would help out at the hardware store. Kevin Raymond Lind was born in the Glenwood hospital on November 2th, 1953 while they were still living in Brooten, MN. The family then moved to Wadena where Ray worked for the Homecrest Furniture Company. Gregg Raymond Lind was born on August 16th, 1963 and their family was complete. Mary Helen was a Cub Scout Leader, Den Mother and member of the PTA and played in the ladies golf league. She also joined a Bridge Club and enjoyed entertaining in her home whenever it was her turn as hostess. The family joined and regularly attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena.

Mary Helen's Scandinavian heritage was important to her and she enjoyed teaching her daughters-in law the delicate joy of making Krum kaka, Swedish rusks, Christmas cookies and candies, and many other traditions of Ray's or her family which gave each us such special memories of our times together.

Mary Helen is survived by her son, Craig (Marguerite) Lind of Bridgeport, NE; son, Kevin (Cindy) Lind, of Jordan, MN, granddaughter, Anna Lind and grandson, Matthew Lind, of Minneapolis, MN; and son, Gregg (Suzanne Lind), of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandson, Aaron Lind of Gainesville, FL; granddaughter, Kara Lind of Cedar Rapids, LA; one sister-in-law, Helen Langager of Willmar, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
