Mary Kay Devenport June 14, 1940 - May 31, 2009
WILLMAR -- Mary Katherine "Mary Kay" Devenport, 68, of Willmar died Sunday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church.
She was born June 14, 1940, in Minneapolis to Arthur and Eleanor (Kierski) Bierden. She grew up in Columbia Heights and graduated from St. Anthony Catholic Schools in 1958. She graduated from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph in 1962.
She married Jon Devenport on Oct. 13, 1962, in Columbia Heights. They lived in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and Stevens Point, Wis. In 1969, they moved to Willmar and she became the religious education coordinator at the Church of St. Mary. She had to retire in 2000 because of her health.
She is survived by her husband; children: Rebecca (and Jeff) Engel of Carver, Jennifer (and Kurt) Dittes of Willmar, Michael (and Jan) Devenport of Anchorage, Alaska, and Daniel (and Brook) Devenport of Mankato; eight grandchildren; siblings: Jim (and Peg) Bierden of North Providence, R.I., John (and Patty) Bierden of Leominster, Mass., and Bill (and Marilyn) Bierden of Eden Prairie.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
