BENSON -- Mary Lou Johnson, 51, of Benson, died Friday at the Swift County Benson Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in rural Murdock. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are by Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
She was born Feb. 13, 1957, in Benson to Henry and Margaret (Hanson) Slaughter. She grew up in Murdock, Benson and Appleton and graduated from Murdock High School.
On Oct. 29, 1982, she married Richard Allen Johnson in rural Murdock. They lived in Benson. She worked at Velma's Café, Atlantic Junction and the Whistle Stop Diner. She leased the Viking Café for a couple of years. For the past seven years, she ran her own dog boarding/breeding kennel.
She was a member of the American Morgan Horse Association, the American Kennel Club and the Shamrock Hest Riding Club. She was a volunteer with 4-H and provided homes for rescued animals.
She is survived by her husband; children: Kim Johnson of Olivia, Ben Johnson of Benson, Zach Johnson of Willmar, Heather Johnson of Willmar and Tina Johnson of Benson; her father of Benson; siblings: Steven (and Maree) Slaughter of Benson, Sheila (and Rob) Hurley of Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
