Matthias A. Neudecker Feb.24, 1927 - April 22, 2009
REDWOOD FALLS -- Matthias "Matt" Alphonsus Neudecker, 82, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Clements died Wednesday at his home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Clements with military honors.
Visitation will begin before the service at 9 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Redwood Falls.
He was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Sundown Township, Redwood County, to George and Rose (Bruckbauer) Neudecker. He attended country school and then farmed with his father. He joined the Army in 1945 and served as an MP in Germany during World War II and, for a time, as driver for Gen. George Patton. Following his discharge, he owned and operated Matt & Al's Standard station in Clements and retired when he was in his 70s. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, the Catholic Aid Association and the VFW and American Legion in Clements.
He is survived by his siblings: Magdalen (and Bill) Wintherser of Sleepy Eye, Bernadette (and John) Hogan of Denison, Iowa, Dolores (and Larry) Greene of DesMoines, Wash., Grace Plaetz of Huchinson and David (and Linda) Neudecker of Forest Lake.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
