Mavis A. Lentz Nov. 6, 1927 - May 19, 2013

RENVILLE - Mavis A. Lentz, age 85, of Renville, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Renville County Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville. The Rev. Rick Tuttle will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Visitation continues on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church in Renville.

Mavis A. Lentz was born November 6, 1927, in Appleton, Minnesota to Arthur and Nora (Hanson) Iverson. Growing up Mavis and her family lived in a number of different communities and she later graduated from Echo High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Raymond A. Lentz on May 23, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Renville. They made their home in Renville and Mavis worked at Wahl Implement and also as a secretary for Willard Kemnitz who had an insurance agency and sold Federal Crop Insurance. She also was a reporter for the 212 Speedway in Renville for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Renville V.F.W. Auxiliary. Mavis enjoyed gardening, flowers, and bird watching, she also had a passion for the art’s and loved to paint and decorate cakes.

She is survived by her husband Ray, her sons: Steve (and LuAnn) of Renville, Gary of Echo, and David of Renville; her two grandchildren Chad (and Nimfa) Lentz of Glencoe, and Kim (and Dave) Collins of Shakopee, her great grandchildren Tiffany and Courtney Collins; her siblings: Jane Bronson of Redwood Falls, Vonda (and William) Bongs of Crosby-Ironton, Dennis (and Virginia) Iverson of Delano, Bonnie (and Roger) Handeland of St. Joseph, Rose (and Merlyn) Dilley of Clearwater, and Carol Portinga of Willmar; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Clair Iverson, Sally Berquist, and Roger Iverson.
