The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced earlier this year it would install 10 miles of high-tension cable median in the center of I-94 near Alexandria as well as a 7-mile segment near Moorhead at a cost of $2.2 million.

The four freshmen, Danielle Renninger, 18; Jordan Playle, 19; Megan Sample, 18; and Lauren Peterson, 18; were killed when their westbound car skidded off the road and into the eastbound lane of the interstate, where they were struck by an oncoming SUV.
