Meeker County arrests two male juveniles for multiple thefts in Greenleaf Township, Star Lake area
LITCHFIELD - Two 16-year-old boys suspected in a series of thefts in the Star Lake area of Greenleaf Township in Meeker County are in custody, the Meeker County Sheriff's Department reported on Saturday.
The two were arrested after sheriff's deputies responded to an address on 586th Avenue in Greenleaf Township on Star Lake at 6:16 a.m. on Friday. The deputies learned that a 2004 Chevrolet Impala had been stolen but returned to the residence overnight. The hood was still warm, the car had been damaged, and items had been stolen from it. Other vehicles parked at the residence had also been entered and items taken from them. Further investigation by the officers led them to 21383 586th Avenue, also on Star Lake. They executed a search warrant and recovered property reported as stolen.
The two suspects were transported to the Prairie Lake Detention Facility Willmar, where they are being held. The Meeker County Attorney's office is expected to file formal charges this week.
The sheriff's department has received numerous theft and criminal damaged to property reports related to this case. The public's help is requested in reporting any damage or theft to property, or suspicious activities, especially in the Star Lake area.
