MONTEVIDEO -- Melva Joyce Aeikens, 62, of Montevideo died Tuesday from cancer at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Bible Church in Montevideo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church and for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements with Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born Feb. 10, 1946, in Slayton to Edgar and Inez Harman. She attended Lake Wilson Elementary and graduated from Princeton High School.
She married Gale Dawson in 1969. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis from 1969 until 1977.
She married Dennis Aeikens on May 14, 1977, in Princeton. They moved to Montevideo and she worked as a day care mother for seven years. She worked at Montevideo Technology from 1985 until 2007. She was a member of Community Bible Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and coordinator of the womens service group.
She is survived by her husband; her children: Kelly (and Don) Snell of Montevideo, Amy (and Bob) Laumb of Raymond, Eric Aeikens of Montevideo, Ryan Aeikens of Mankato; three grandsons; brothers: Rodney of Morgan, Roger (and June) of New Hope, Darald (and Clarice) of Princeton and Donald (and Christine) of Glendale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant sister and brother with whom she was a triplet.
