FRANKLIN -- Melvin D. Bloom, 74, of Franklin, died Thursday at the Buffalo Lake Nursing Home.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Burial with military rites will be at the Granite Falls City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
He was born July 23, 1934, in Franklin to Emery and Daisy (Grimes) Bloom. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.
He married Darlene Parks on Sept. 19, 1964, in Granite Falls. They lived in Cottonwood, Marshall, Redwood Falls, Hutchinson, Brownton, Franklin, Park Rapids and Fairfax where he often assisted on farms. He had also worked for several years at the rendering plant in North Redwood.
He is survived by his siblings: Ethel Miller of Hector, Edna Jean Bloom of Richfield and Alvin Bloom of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002, one sister and one brother.
