Willie Potwin proudly sings along Saturday to the "Star-Spangled Banner" as it is played to open the program at Copperleaf Senior Living's Memorial Ball. Potwin is a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He told the Tribune in a 2007 story that his ship, the USS San Francisco, was docked for an overhaul and not struck during the attack. Potwin helped man the guns on the USS New Orleans and took part in downing two attack planes. (Tribune photo by Ron Adams)
