Men's Basketball: Ridgewater's quick start stymies Minnesota West

WILLMAR -- Ridgewater shot 56 percent from the field in the first half, then cooled off in the second half and hung on to upened Minnesota West 69-61 in an MCAC Southern Division men's basketball game on Saturday.

Ridgewater (6-5, 14-11) led 45-33 at halftime, but were then outscored 28-24 in the second half.

Casey Sussenguth paced the Warriors with 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five blocked shots. Shawn Neu drained four 3-pointers en route to 16 points. Nathan Nietfeld had nine points and eight assists. Tyler Stein and Mike Weber also had nine points each.

For Minnesota West, Monte Metz had 15 points, Cory Lesnar had 13 points and nine rebounds and Alexandros Papageorgiou added 10 points.

Ridgewater also beat Minnesota West 81-64 on Jan. 20 in Worthington.

The Warriors will play their final regular-season game on Wednesday at home against Riverland.
