Men's basketball: Riverland bounces Warriors

AUSTIN — After a close first half, Riverland outscored the Ridgewater men’s basketball team 17-6 to open the second half and the Warriors fell 83-71 in an MCAC South Division game on Saturday.

The Warriors trailed by two, 43-41, at halftime, but shot just 35 percent in the second half after shooting at a 55 percent clip in the first.

“It’s was a wild first half,” said Ridgewater head coach Bob Knutson. “We shot it really well. It was very competitive and fast-paced. In the second half, we just couldn’t shoot.”

Melvin Kromah played a strong game for the Warriors, finishing with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Willmar grad Mo Mohamud hit three 3-pointers and had 13 points and Beau Herrig had 11 points and 8 rebounds. Terrance Lockett had 7 points and 7 assists.

The Warriors play host to Western Wisconsin Tech at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
