ST. CLOUD — The short-handed Ridgewater College men’s basketball team fell behind in the first half and couldn’t find enough energy down the stretch and lost its MCAC Southern Division opener, 84-70, to St. Cloud Technical College at the Whitney Center on Tuesday.

The Warriors lost their third straight game and are 5-7 heading into Saturday’s 3 p.m. game at Rochester.

“It was tough for us getting back into it,” said Warriors head coach Bob Knutson. “We played with very little energy.”

Ridgewater played just seven men, having lost a good chunk of its roster to injuries or bad grades.

DeJuan Curry led the Warriors with 16 points and Beau Herrig and Joe Leuze both scored 12 points.

Terrance Lockett finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Jared Noonan hit three 3-point shots and led SCT with 14 points.

The Warriors were outscored just 40-37 in the second half but couldn’t overcome an 11-point halftime deficit.

“As poorly as we played, we managed to keep it interesting,” Knutson said.
