MAYNARD -- Michael Edward Gay, 57, of Maynard died Friday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Doncaster Cemetery in Granite Falls.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls.
He was born April 5, 1952, in Stillwater to Thomas and Delores (Burrell) Gay Jr. He grew up in Pine City and attended Pine City High School.
He married Barbara Thompson on May 2, 1970, in Rush City. They lived and worked in Wisconsin for a short time before returning to Pine City in 1972 to farm on the family farm. He moved to Minneapolis and worked as a welder before taking a job with Coca Cola in St. Paul. He drove truck for Old Home Foods before moving to Finalson and becoming an over the road truck driver.
He married Lola Gerdes on March 3, 2001 in Granite Falls. They lived in Maynard and he was working as an over-the-road truck driver at the time of his death.
He survived by his wife; children: Christopher (and Rosalba) Gay of Solan Springs, Wis., Courtney Gay of Coon Rapids, Dustin (and Christine) Gay of Ashland, Wis.; stepdaughter: Shelley (and Elkin) Reigstad of Granite Falls; father: Thomas (and Marilyn) Gay Jr. of Ramsey; siblings: Peggy (and Leon) Zavadil of Jamestown, N.D., Deborah (and John) McKeown of Muskegon, Mich., Raymond (and Kathryn) Gay of Braham, Neal (and Diana) Gay of Pine City, John (and Debby) Gay of Knoxville, Tenn., David (and Colleen) Gay of Fall Creek, Wis.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.
