Mildred E. Piepenburg July 26, 1914 - Oct. 5, 2008
LITCHFIELD -- Mildred Ella Piepenburg, 94, of Litchfield died Sunday at Meeker Memorial Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 26, 1914, in Litchfield to Albert and Freida (Koelke) Smith. She grew up and received her education in Litchfield, graduating in 1932 from Litchfield High School. She attended normal training and taught country school for a short time in the Cedar Mills area.
She married Oliver Piepenburg on Dec. 10, 1940. They farmed near Grove City for four years before moving to Greenleaf Township where they farmed. They moved to Litchfield in 1993. She was active with the county extension group, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, ladies aid and vesper guild.
She is survived by her children: Sharon Piepenburg and Pamela Piepenburg, both of Litchfield, Curtis (and Mona) Piepenburg of Bayport; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings: Lewis (and Florence) Smith of Litchfield and Helen Satterstrom of North Branch.
She was preceded by her husband, brothers and sisters.
