HECTOR -- Mellicent "Millie" J. Fahlberg, 87, of Hector, died Thursday at Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.
The service will be at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Hector. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
She was born July 14, 1921, in Melville Township, Renville County, to Amos and Clara (Ehrenberg) Walter. She graduated from high school in Hector.
She married Carrington Fahlberg on June 3, 1944. They owned the Green Mill Restaurant and The Grill (now Pete's Grill) in Hector at different times early in their marriage and did all the baking and cooking and waited on customers. She worked as head cook for the Hector School and then worked at 3M for 17 years until she retired.
She was a member of the Hector United Methodist Church and served on the funeral committee for many years, was secretary for the executive council, served on the United Methodist Women's Board, the visiting committee and was the flower lady for the church altar for many years.
She is survived by her daughter: Barbara Winkler of Hector; daughter-in-law Lauri Fahlberg of Montana; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; siblings: Marilyn Krentz Neubarth of Portland, Ore., Keith Walter of Washougal, Wash., and Oliver (and Dorothy) Walter of Bird Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son: Larry; one sister; and one brother.
