COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Milo C. (Mike) Mickelson, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on July 14, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Willmar, Minnesota, January 25, 1927 to the late Grace (Lilleberg) and Vernon Mickelson.

Mike joined the US Marine Corp in 1944, where he served on the USS Missouri and was present for the signing of the Peace Treaty with Japan in 1945. After serving his term of duty during WWII he returned to Minnesota to finish his education. He then moved to Colorado Springs with his mother and brother in 1947. Mike met and married Irene Ormsby in December 1947 at the First United Methodist Church.

Mike had two careers. He worked nearly 20 years in the motion picture industry at Alexander Film Company working in most departments and was part of the production team of award winning commercials. He then moved to Blue Cross-Blue Shield, where he worked for over 20 years and retired as the District manager.

Mike is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Irene, his daughter Michell (OJ), and his son Michael. He also leaves behind one granddaughter Rachell (Chris) and great-grandchildren Jacob, Brian (Brooke), Andre'a and Brandan. Mike is also survived by his brother Vernelle (Kay), and two nephews, as well as his brother-in-law Charles (Janelle) and seven nieces, and their families. There are many other surviving family members in Minnesota.

Private family services will be held at Swan-Law, followed by private burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
