Minneapolis repels upset bid by Lady Warriors

WILLMAR -- Ridgewater made a late charge, cutting into a 10-point Minneapolis lead with under 1:30 left, but fell short in a 67-63 women's basketball loss Wednesday.

The Marauders (5-0, 12-8) stayed in first place in the MCCC Southern Division.

Down by 15 points during the second half, the Lady Warriors (3-2, 12-5) sank several free throws down the stretch and Jamie Munson nailed a three-pointer to bring Ridgewater within four points with 17 seconds left. But Ridgewater would get no closer.

The Marauders, who suited up only seven players, kept the Lady Warriors at arm's length with their quickness.

Ridgewater, which dressed 11, had three players foul out.

Terra Billiet dominated the inside for Ridgewater, posting a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Ashley Olson followed with nine points, including a three-point play during Ridgewater's comeback.

Gabriella Gustafson led Minneapolis with 20 points and Shakira Owens had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
