Due to legislation signed into law this session, commercial property owners who have been affected by the slow start to the summer season have until June 15 to make their first-half property tax payment without penalty.

The extension applies to owners of commercial seasonal residential recreational property classified as 1c or 4c property. It also applies to seasonal commercial property classified as 3a property, if more than 60 percent of its 2012 gross income was earned during the months of May, June, July and August.

Owners of seasonal recreational property will need to submit an affidavit to their payment stating that they meet the income conditions in order to be eligible for the extension.
