Minnesota Hockey gets tough on checks

The Minnesota Hockey Board of Directors voted unanimously at its winter board meeting last weekend to strengthen the severity of the penalty issued to players who are cited for boarding and checking-from-behind infractions.

Effective today, the penalty for those checks will be a minimum five minute major. This will cover all Minnesota Hockey-sanctioned youth hockey games played until July 31, after which the change will be reviewed by the board.
