Minnesota National Guard activated to assist in storm damage

The Minnesota National Guard has been activated to assist in three Minnesota counties following Thursday's tornado and severe storm damage.

The state is assisting local authorities in Wadena, Freeborn and Steele counties.

A total of 74 soldiers have been activated and will be providing security and operating traffic checkpoints.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has also been assisting in the storm response.
