Minnesota Oscar party fundraiser set for Waconia

WACONIA -- An Oscar night party promises velvet ropes and red carpet, but it's being held in Minnesota -- not Hollywood.

The nonprofit group S.A.F.E.R. -- which stands for Search and Find Emergency Responders -- is holding the party to benefit children and adults with special needs. The party begins Sunday at 5 p.m. at Lola's Lakehouse in Waconia.

The night includes a three-course meal, dancing and a live auction. Organizers say some current and past Minnesota Vikings and local TV and radio personalities will be present.

Tickets cost $150 per person. VIP tables -- which allow people to dine with a celebrity -- also can be purchased.
