Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar to be keynote speaker at this year's Women's Expo
WILLMAR -- U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar will be the keynote speaker Saturday at the West Central Tribune Women's Expo.
The annual event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kennedy Elementary School, 824 Seventh St. S.W., Willmar.
Klobuchar will speak at 1:30 p.m. in Kennedy Little Theater. She is the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota.
The featured entertainment of the day will be musical humorist Stephanie Fisher Heiberg at 12:30 p.m. in Little Theater. Her show includes humorous highlights from her experience as a beauty contestant, a corporate executive and a mother of triplets.
"We're looking forward to a great day with a variety of wonderful exhibits and amazing entertainment and speakers," said Kari Gislason, marketing director at the Tribune. "We are especially excited and honored that Sen. Amy Klobuchar is joining us for the event."
The event will feature food for sale and a wide variety of booths and exhibits. For the first time this year, the Expo will have a marketplace area.
The Fabulous Forty prize drawings at 9:15 a.m., noon and 2:20 p.m. will feature drawings for gifts from 30 area businesses. They include gift cards, jewelry and other items. Grand prize drawings will be at 2:45 p.m., and winners must be present to win.
Other features at the Expo include:
- Demonstrations: Tae Kwon Do at 10 a.m., Zumba dance exercise at 11:45 a.m. and Colleen's School of Dance performance at 2 p.m.
- A Kandi Mall fashion show at 11 a.m.
- Health seminars at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
- Food demonstrations by Sue Doeden at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
- Free keepsake photos from Film Drop.
Tickets are $6 in advance, $5 in advance for blocks of 10 or more, and $10 at the door on Saturday. Tickets are available in advance until 5 p.m. today at Cub Foods or the West Central Tribune office.
