Minor League Baseball: Willmar's Smith, Captains advance in playoffs

Willmar native Jordan Smith went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI as the Lake County Captains sailed by the Bowling Green Hot Rods for the second night in a row by a 5-4 score on Thursday to win the best of three series and advance to the Midwest League Eastern Division Championship Series.

The Captains will take on the Fort Wayne Tincaps tonight in Game 1 at Fort Wayne. Smith went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's one-run win at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio, before the series moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky.
