A Hayward man who had been missing since Wednesday afternoon after he went kayaking was found dead Saturday afternoon.

Randy Danczyk was found in about 10 feet of water just off the Stinnett canoe landing on the Namakagon River in Washburn County.

His girlfriend of six years, Ruth Anne Gillmor, said Danczyk was an experienced kayaker and it wasn't unusual for him to go out by himself.

She said she wasn't told what happened, but that he was found close to where he launched his kayak.

The Washburn County sheriff's department said an autopsy will be conducted to determine a cause of death.

Gillmor said Danczyk grew up in Hayward and was a landscaper.
