The Cass County Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday that law enforcement and the public are still searching for Peter Achermann, who was been missing since Friday.

"We have searched the (southwest Cass Co.) area where the vehicle was found with negative results, said Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher. "It is a very remote area. Search efforts will continue."

Achermann, of rural Staples, was last seen Friday. The car that Achermann was driving was located Saturday evening stuck in a dirt trail mud hole in rural Becker Township in southwest Cass County, located northeast of Staples. The man was scheduled to attend a family wedding Saturday.

Achermann is a white man, about 5-foot-9, 175 pounds and has a gray beard and generally walks with a cane. He lives on a Moose Lake Township farm north of Leader.

"The volunteer (search) turnout has been unbelievable," Fisher said.

Cass County authorities report a air and ground search continues of the southwest Cass County area where Achermann's vehicle was located. Searchers involved in the search include law enforcement officers and Posse members from Cass and Wadena counties, Motley and Staples Fire Departments, Central Lakes Search and Rescue, community volunteers, family members and aircraft from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff's Department at (800) 450-2677 or (218) 547-1424.
