MLB: Mientkiewicz to manage Twins’ Single-A team

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Doug Mientkiewicz will begin his first year as manager of the Minnesota Twins Single-A affiliate Ft. Myers Miracle of the Florida State League, the organization announced Monday.
Mientkiewicz played 12 seasons in the major leagues, including parts of seven seasons with the Twins from 1998-2004 in which he hit .275 in 643 games. He also won a Gold Glove in 2001.
Mientkiewicz comes to the Miracle from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, where he was the hitting coach for the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League in 2012.
