MLB: Twins to open 2014 season in Chicago
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins will open the 2014 season on the road.
But they shouldn’t expect much better weather than if they opened the year at Target Field.
The Twins will start next season on March 31 at Chicago against the White Sox, which could make for a chilly opener. Then they head to Cleveland for a three-game series before coming home for the first time. They host Oakland on April 7, starting a run of three straight series at home, including games against Kansas City and Toronto.
Major League Baseball released the 2014 schedule on Tuesday.
The New York Yankees will visit Target Field over the Fourth of July holiday for a four-game series from July 3-6. Nine days later, the Twins will host the All-Star game.
They finish the year on the road, with a four-game series in Detroit through Sept. 28. Before that, they’ll travel for interleague games to San Diego, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Colorado. National League opponents visiting Minnesota will be Los Angeles, Milwaukee, San Diego and Arizona.
