MnDOT: Highway 29 closed until further notice for anhydrous crash
WILLMAR — Officials from MnDOT say State Highway 29 north of Benson is closed due to this morning’s anhydrous ammonia tanker rollover crash.
According to the Willmar Department of Transportation office, crews from District 4 have been called in to provide assistance to local law enforcement and fire department crews who had been handling local traffic.
Motorists are asked to take alternate routes and avoid the area. The roadway will be closed to traffic until further notice.
According to Swift County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported around 6:45 a.m. and happened when a pickup pulling two 1,000-gallon anhydrous tanks lost control on a patch of ice on a bridge and rolled into the ditch.
The Sheriff's office says most of the product has been released and there is no emergency to the immediate area.
