MnDOT to hold public hearing on rail plan

WILLMAR -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation will conduct a statewide videoconference public hearing today to discuss the 2009 Comprehensive Statewide Freight and Passenger Rail Plan.

The hearing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today. In MnDOT District 8, the public may participate at the district offices in Willmar at 2505 Transportation Road, 320-231-5195, and in Marshall at 1800 E. College Drive, 507-537-6146.

The videoconference hearing will begin with a brief presentation on the planning and development process for the rail plan. MnDOT staff will be available for questions.

The plan, released in December, is available for review and comment at www.dot.state.mn.us/ planning/railplan/. The public may review a paper copy of the plan at the MnDOT Central Office in St. Paul and at district headquarters throughout the state. The District 8 headquarters is at 2505 Transportation Road in Willmar.
