He succeeds Dave Trooien, who retired Aug. 14.

Huseby is responsible for state and federal funded highway maintenance and construction projects as well as other transportation-related activities in the district, which is a 12-county region in west central and southwest Minnesota.

Huseby worked for MnDOT from 1983 to 2003 as district engineer in the Mankato district and the assistant district engineer in both the Mankato and Willmar districts. He also served in various positions in maintenance operations, research engineering and civil engineering.

Huseby also worked for the Hennepin County Transportation Department and a consulting engineering firm.

"I've been very fortunate to have excellent experiences in both the public and private sectors during my career; however, my true passion is public service," Huseby said. "Those of us working in the transportation field have a wonderful opportunity to influence society in a positive way by planning, building and maintaining transportation systems."

Huseby earned a Bachelor's of Science in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He has been involved in the Minnesota Society of Engineers and Surveyors, Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers, and the Civil Engineering Advisory Board at Minnesota State University-Mankato.

Jon and his wife, Debbie, are natives of Montevideo. They have two college-age children.
