The Minnesota Department of Transportation will conduct aerial mapping of Highway 7 from Highway 29 in Montevideo to Highway 59 in Appleton, and on Highway 12, half a mile east and west of the junction with the Highway 23/71 Bypass. This mapping will create a photo record of the existing infrastructure and landscape which will be used to plan future improvements, according to MnDOT.

MnDOT paints or places large white X target marks on the ground. A survey crew then records the coordinate position and elevation of the targets and provides this information to the Photogrammetric Unit. The targets are temporary and will be removed in about two weeks when the work is complete. MnDOT plans to complete the aerial mapping before farmers need start work in their fields. The aerial flights are scheduled to begin in early April. For more information, call 320-214-6352 or 1-800-657-3792, or visit www.mndot.gov.
