Monte gets sweep over Paynesville

MONTEVIDEO -- Montevideo kept pace in the West Central South Conference volleyball race, sweeping Paynesville 25-11, 25-17, 25-17 on Tuesday night.

Seven players recorded a kill for the Thunder Hawks (5-2, 11-7), who have won or shared the conference title the last two years. YME is 1/2-match ahead of Benson and 11/2 ahead of Montevideo with five remaining.

Brooke Tastad had nine kills for Montevideo and Beka Schwendemann recorded eight. Whitney Johnson had 16 assists and 13 digs, while Jaci Clauson had three ace blocks and Kaylie Amborn had three ace serves. Kelsie Diggins led in digs with 14.

For Paynesville, Caitlyn Gottwald had four kills and Megan Wuertz notched seven digs.
