Montevideo City Council amends 2009 budget

MONTEVIDEO -- City council members in Montevideo approved an amended, 2009 budget on Monday which reflects the changes needed in response to action by Governor Tim Pawlenty to 'unallot' local government aid.

The approved budget reflects the loss of $115,245 in local government that had been anticipated.

Council members are expecting unallotments to reduce local government aids by $265,914 in 2010.

The city will be adopting a 2010 budget with a six percent levy increase as a result.

Most property owners will not necessarily see a six percent hike, however, as property valuations across the community have risen, said City Manager Steve Jones.
