Montevideo man in critical condition in accident with semi

WEGDAHL -- A 23-year-old Montevideo man is in critical condition following a car and semi trailer collision at a U.S. Highway 212 intersection near Wegdhal in Chippewa County.

Issac J. Johnson was transported to Granite Falls Hospital around 9:15 a.m. Monday after his 2000 Pontiac Bonneville collided with a 1987 Peterbilt semi trailer at the intersection of Highway 12 and County Road 7 near Wegdahl.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, the Bonneville was heading eastbound on County Road 7 while the Peterbilt was traveling southbound on Highway 212. Both vehicles careened into the southbound ditch after the collision and the semi destroyed a power pole.

Johnson was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale after transportation to Granite Falls Hospital. The driver of the semi trailer -- Steven P, Price, 39, of Langford, S.D. -- was not injured in the accident.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene of the accident.
