Montevideo man dies of injuries sustained in Highway 212 crash
SACRED HEART -- Joshua R. Baldwin, 20, of Montevideo, died Saturday of injuries sustained in head-on crash on Oct. 20 near Sacred Heart.
According to Baldwin's caringbridge.com site, he died of a brain hemorrhage on Saturday afternoon and was an organ donor. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Montevideo.
Baldwin was airlifted from Granite Falls Hospital to Hennepin County Medical Center after a car he was riding in was involved in a head-on crash around 12:06 a.m. Oct. 20 on the westbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 212 west of Sacred Heart.
The driver of the car, David D. Kriesel, 20, of Glenwood, and another passenger, Haley N. Schwenk, 17, of Appleton, were airlifted from the scene to North Memorial Medical Center. According to their caringbridge.com sites, both were seriously injured and have been through multiple surgeries. Kriesel sustained internal injuries and multiple broken bones, including those in his face. Schwenk also had internal injuries and broken facial bones.
The driver of the other vehicle, Douglas S. Folkens, 55, of Hector, was held at Granite Falls Hospital with cuts and soreness in his chest from the seat belt.
