Morris W. Malquist

WILLMAR -- Morris Willard Malquist, 83, of Willmar, died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are by Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
He was born Aug. 30, 1925, on the family farm near Bird Island to George and Hazel (Ruud) Malquist. He grew up and received his education in the Willmar area, graduating from Willmar High School. He worked on the family farm until serving as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He then returned to the family farm.
On Nov. 4, 1956, he married Marcia Bloomquist in Willmar, where they lived. He was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad as an engineer for many years. He also worked part-time as a meat packer in St. Paul.
He is survived by his wife; son: Kevin (and Kelly) Malquist of St. Cloud; daughter: Dawn Bernier of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren; brother: LeRoy (and Helen) Malquist of Alexandria; and sisters: Audrey Dalien of Becker, Joyce Morris (and Harry) of Maplewood and Carol Jean (and Bob) Hennessy of Eden Prairie.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
