Mother and daughter injured Sunday in two-vehicle accident

WILLMAR - A mother and daughter from Appleton were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident west of Willmar.

Three teens from Kerkhoven, who were in the second vehicle, were not injured.

According to the State Patrol Kacey Struxness, 16, of Appleton, was traveling west on Trunk Highway 40 around 5 p.m. on Sunday when her vehicle was struck broadside by a 1995 Ford Taurus that was driven by Adam Miller, 18, of Kerkhoven.

Miller was going north on Chippewa County Road 2 when his car collided with the rear of the Struxness vehicle, which then went into the ditch, rolled, and came to a stop on its side.

Struxness was treated and released for minor injuries.

Her mother, Melissa Struxness, 37, was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital and is being treated for minor injuries.

Miller was not injured.

Two passengers in his vehicle, Leah Miller, 15, and Alison Miller, 13, were also not injured.
