Myron C. Borth Aug. 9, 1921 - May 17, 2009

REDWOOD FALLS -- Myron Carl Borth, 87, of Redwood Falls died Sunday at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Burial with military honors will be in Crestlawn Gardens, rural Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and for one hour prior to service at the church.

He was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Moltke Township, Sibley County, to Ernest and Alvina (Lehmann) Borth. The family moved to a farm near Fairfax and he attended country school in Renville County. He worked on the family farm until called for military duty in 1943. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 as an aircraft electrician, stationed at bases in the U.S. and Europe.

He married Florence Reynolds on July 25, 1943, in Redwood Falls. Following the war, he worked as a farm hand until buying a farm. He retired from farming in 1987.

He married Mae Reynolds on Jan. 30, 1993. They lived on the farm until moving to Redwood Falls in 2007. He helped with the planning and construction of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls and later became a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He served on the Sheridan Township board for 42 years, was a member of the Seaforth Farmers Elevator Board, was active in the Farmers Union and belonged to the VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; children: Merlyn (and Lorena) Borth of Marshall and Brenda (and David) Filzen of Hope Mills, N.C.; stepchildren: David (and Kim) Reynolds of Redwood Falls and Darcee (and Jerry) Ayers of Knoxville, Iowa; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Orpha Kuester of Redwood Falls, Lyle Borth of Redwood Falls and Loaine Williams of Prescott, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1987; a stepson: Danny; and two brothers.
