Myron H. Evenson Sept. 27, 1924 - Sept. 18, 2013

ATWATER - Myron H. Evenson, 88, of Atwater, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. His funeral will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 23rd at Tripolis Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Kandiyohi. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Myron was born on September 27, 1924, the son of Helmer J. and Lydia (Lindgren) Evenson in Swift County, near Sunburg. He attended school through the 8th grade and then helped on the farm until enlisting into the United States Air Force in January of 1946. After his honorable discharge in 1948, Myron returned home and began working as a mechanic for Swenson Oldsmobile.

On December 4, 1953, he was united in marriage to Vivian Luckow at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Raymond. He continued working as a mechanic and in 1961, he began farming of which he did along with having dairy cows until retiring in the mid 1980s. Following his retirement, Myron always had to be busy, so he continued helping farmers in the area and also worked for Kandi Kountry Express.

Myron was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of the Atwater Saddle Club. Even after retiring and living with Dennis, he could always be found tending to horses, goats and other animals including his "little companion," Sammy.

Surviving are his children: Wendy Evenson of Grove City; Dennis Evenson of Atwater and Wanda (and Wayne) Knoll of Lake Lillian; eight grandchildren: Jory, Amy Jo and Kassia Behrends, Daniel, Christafer and Joseph Evenson, Chelsey (and Dan) Rettmann and Trista Knoll; and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: Ludean Evenson of Willmar; Lorraine Lee of Little Canada; Avis (and Eldon) Carlson of Maynard; Francine (and Chuck) Swenson of Sauk Rapids; Faith Skindelien of New London; Maverine (and Gordy) Anderson of Onamia and sister-in-law, Elaine Thompson of St. Peter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vivian in June of 1994; brothers, Carroll and Harland Evenson; sisters, Charlene Lindberg and June Lee and granddaughter, Kristina Lynn.
