Name released in ATV crash near Watkins
LITCHFIELD -- The Meeker County Sheriff has identified the victim of an ATV crash discovered early Wednesday morning as Stephen J. Berscheid, 55, from rural Kimball.
According to a news release from Sheriff Jeff Norlin, a person traveling on 677th Avenue came across a four-wheeler accident around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday. Berscheid was lying on the ground near the ATV.
Deputies and the Watkins Ambulance responded and found Berscheid deceased. The county coroner was also dispatched to the scene.
The investigation determined Berscheid was eastbound on 395th Street and the tracks showed the ATV attempted to turn to go northbound on 677th Avenue. The ATV lost control and rolled, coming to a stop in the roadway.
The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the incident.
