National Guard members return today to Litchfield
LITCHFIELD — Eighty-six Minnesota National Guard members are returning home today to their base in Litchfield after an 11-month deployment to Afghanistan.
The soldiers with the 849th Mobility Augmentation Company will return around 2:30 p.m. at the Litchfield Civic Center.
They will arrive in busses as a part of an emergency and law enforcement escorted convoy and the patriot guard will be present at the civic center to welcome the soldiers home.
The troops spent their time in Afghanistan clearing over 4,970 miles of supply and convoy routes throughout 8,490 square miles of Afghanistan’s Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces, while removing nine different improvised explosive devices.
