As part of a plea agreement in Kandiyohi County District Court, another felony for domestic assault will be dismissed. Gomez was ordered held in the county jail until his sentencing on March 14.

The charges were filed af-ter an investigation began Sept. 18, when Willmar po-lice received a report of child abuse of a then 2-year-old boy. A woman had reported finding large bruises on the child's buttock and thigh. She had quickly informed the child's mother about the situation.

The woman reported that the child told her that Gomez had hit him with a back scratcher while his mother was at work. The woman and the mother said they had confronted Gomez, who denied striking the child.

The child was interviewed by a police detective and a child protection worker and said that Gomez hit him with the back scratcher when he was in trouble, and that he had told his mother about Gomez spanking and kicking him in the buttocks.

The bruises, described in the complaint as dark red to purple in color, covered the child's entire left buttock and continued onto his left thigh.

The child's mother reported that she had bathed the child earlier that day and hadn't seen any bruises on him. She said that when Gomez was confronted by the women, he said the child fell while outside.
