BISMARCK – An anchor who used profanity during his first newscast on Bismarck KFYR TV says he has been fired.

Anchor A.J. Clemente was co-anchoring with Van Tieu when his foul language was aired during the opening segment of Sunday’s 5 p.m. newscast.

In a Twitter post Monday morning, Clemente said "Unforunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go. Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support."

The station had suspended Clemente, who said he was a graduate of West Virginia University, Sunday night.

A video clip of the newscast was posted on YouTube.

“He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse. We train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time,” said Monica Hannan, the station’s news director, in a Facebook post.
