MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A Minnesota puppy who escaped a likely deadly trip through the mail is going home with a south Minneapolis woman.
Terri Ford was picked this afternoon as the new owner of Guess, a 5-month-old schnauzer-poodle mix. The dog became famous nearly three weeks ago when its previous owner tried to mail it to Georgia.
Postal workers rescued Guess when they heard noise and saw the box move.
About 50 people showed up today for the chance to be Guess's new owner.
Animal control officials said the dog will go home with Ford, who already has a cat. Ford is unemployed, and says this is probably a good time for her to house break the dog.
She also says she thinks Guess and her cat will get along just fine.
