New London Music Festival set for Saturday at Neer Park
NEW LONDON -- The 2009 New London Music Festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Neer Park in New London.
There will be two stages of bluegrass, folk, jazz and blues music. The Green Lake Bluegrass Band will kick off the day at noon on the main stage, followed by Jeff Vetsch, the Lake Andrew Sisters, the Divers, Berett Steffen and Morgan Hoffer, the Black Velvet String Band, Ray Ojeda, the Fringe Band and the Strollers.
The lower deck stage will feature music and dance with Maggie Harp and the CoffeeHouse Fiddlers from 1 to 2 p.m. The rest of the day it will be an "open stage" available for any talent: vocal, instrumental, drama, poetry, stories or whatever.
The food court will open at 11:30 a.m. featuring locally grown and homemade items from several vendors.
There will also be kid's activities throughout the day.
People are asked to bring a own lawn chair for seating; parking and shuttle will be available from New London-Spicer High School.
Tickets are $7 in advance at Gildays in Willmar, Diedre's and the Bike and Sport Shop in Spicer, Latte Da Espresso in New London, Sunburg Café in Sunburg and the Terrace Store and Restaurant in Terrace; $10 at the gate. Children under 15 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
The festival will be held rain or shine.
